Quantification methodology proposal for biodiversity offsets in Chile

With support from UNDP, a full revision of international methodologies was undertaken to prepare a methodology that could help guide accounting for gains and losses in biodiversity offsets, within the Environmental Impact Assessment System, including a key stakeholder’s engagement.

In order to complement the available public policy instruments, Templado reviewed international experience and interviewed specialists from various countries to propose a methodology that allows quantifying and ensuring equivalence in the biodiversity offset actions proposed in the Environmental Impact Assessment System. This study included collaboration with a public-private working group and validation with relevant stakeholders at the central level and in regions.
